Nitrous Acid

The formula for nitrous acid is HNO2. It is made up of hydrogen and nitrite. Did you know that nitrous acid is unstable? This means it is prepared in situ. Another name, more formal, is nitric (III) acid. It is a weak acid and not very harmful.
