Titanium Carbide- TiC is an ionic compound that is used in any extreme cutting materials. This substance has a very high resistance to extreme wear and tear. It is a ceramic material that is used in many manufacturing tools and machines due to it's high durability.It is rated as a 9.5 on the Moh's scale of hardness.This isn't a material that is found in your everyday house.
I would have never expected carbon to be used in a hard compound commonly used for cutting.
