potassium nitrate's formula is K2(NO2). this is a ternary ionic compound. is made of 1 element and a poly atomic molecule some of the common uses are saltpeter and fertilizer. saltpeter is use in fireworks and rocket fuel . fertilizer is used to help plants grow.
Wow, I didn't realize that the same chemical is in both plant fertilizer and fireworks!
